The Sun, the bees and my failings

Today is the day we get another big event, since Bees Through the Seasons is already open, and i always found this event cute and special, well not many insects get their own event, and i doubt few could pull it, so of course i wanted to  something special for it, by the way you can find all my pins for the event here, for an easy shopping guide while you navigate thru the event, or for previous window browsing.

Whenever i think of bees i associate them like most people i would guess with sun and flowers, and that´s indeed what i felt like, like a flower when i saw these Baiastice gorgeous dresses for the event, and this i where my shortcomings come in, I´ve become a terrible blogger lately due to my technical issues with SL and my constant experimentation.

I had some pretty simple ideas on how to blog the dress and what i wanted to show, it´s amazingly well done texturing, and the cute and detailed bees around the raised waistline, but then i´ve ben absorbed lately in play with flowey poses, since i had a shopping spree at her store last weekend, and i also got a bunch of new nails, for my pretty slink hands, from Orc Inc., s instead of doing a proper blog post i ended up with a bunch of different experiments while i tried to show m hands and nails, and failed at it, but as you all practise make us better, and i´m quite fond of these pics, and i´m sure you are all gonna run off to check the event, and will be able to try a demo of this gorgeous dress, as well as all the pretty cute and sunny perfect items available there.

Death on the Nile

Is the title of the first Agatha Christie book i ever read, and the inspiration for this post with a touch of modern and 30´s 40´s. Modern but a classic are the capris and top from Bilo available at the round of FaMESHed that started today, everything else is a preview from Vintage Fair that opens next saturday the 4th.

The usually gorgeous Bliensen + MaiTai jewelry just seemed to fit the clothes, and was pleasantly surprised to see this year they where also bringing some shoes to the Fair and these are certainly gorgeous, and i believe will become regulars around here, since i love their bright strong colours and classic look.

Now the jewelry, i love how simple but yet detailed the earings are, a perfect match for the adorable lizard brooch, that sleep on my chest, also incredible versatile is the FANATIK bracelet i´m wearing and will show later in better detail.

To finish of the outfit i added a cute little period bag also from the fair by The Millinery Shoppe, that was certainly a perfect fit for this look, i needed something on my hand to used the STaTUS  travel pose set that is perfect for bigger bags also.

Last but not least a big hat to wear under a scorching sun, this one of the recent release by Baiastice, just perfect to keep your skin sheltered while i sit around in a lovely Egyptian marketplace, either planning a murder, or waiting to be a victim, who knows, and like monsieur Hercule Poirot has said:

Understand this, I mean to arrive at the truth. The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

Maidens and tiaras

Following up on Fairy Tales in 2012, an amazing event that will last until the 8th, and my inspiration for some talking one women´s roles in the stories, today i bring you maidens and tiaras, and talk a bit more about virginity, princesses, and the evolution of it all to modern times. Please notice i´m of course no expert in folklore, i just read a bit about it and have a general interest on it.

Being a princess isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Princess Diana

What does being a princess actually mean? Today´s concept is certainly very different then what we saw on fairy tales, in those the young maiden had to prove she was princess/queen material, by either being kind, generous, smart, or simply just beautiful, sometimes they are disobedient, and for that they always pay a price, that is until they regret doing it, they are all very similar characters without much personality, and even the story revolving around them, they simply disappear as soon as the prince comes in and their story ends, we never see them become queens, they are always pure virgin maidens, until that is gone and their story abruptly ends.

Todays concept of princess is a lot different, Disney had a great impact on it of course, today´s princesses aren´t expected to have an actual royal bloodline or even scrub floors, not when the term is used as an insult sometimes , it means high maintenance, expensive clothes and jewelry, and (sighs) tiaras.

It seems all the little girls stopped dreaming about being princesses and started acting like them in the worst possible sense.

Back to our origins

This post was gonna be a lot different, but Culture Shock starts tomorrow and the chosen charity for this event is Médecins Sans Frontières, so i wanted to show a small preview, and that brings us to another point that was brought up on plurk yesterday, i love when discussion on a subject starts there sometimes, especially when it´s about blogging, since i am still sort of new at this.

The subject was basically how many event items do you actually need to blog one event? I believe it only takes one to be honest, show me a little of an event and i will want more, i don´t need 20/30 items, that might not go so well together, from it to want to visit, i need one good item, and slurls, and a link to a blog, that´s all i need, just show me how i can fit in that item with things i already have, even from other events, show me what you got, and i will enjoy it.

So here i am showing one item from Culture Shock only for now, this beautiful Turban from 22769 mixed in with a lot more things from other events, or that i just had about my inventory, and that seemed to fit together.

Also featured in this post is The Summer Beauty Festival, dedicated to cosmetics and that i will be showing a lot this month or until it´s end on the 25th.

By the way speaking of events another one will also start soon, on the 5th is The Ashraya Project, which i will also be blogging, and don´t forget the The WGD Nightstalker Hunt that started on the 1st and has made me get my Goth on for this whole month, well most of the time, and is the start of World Goth Day SL Celebrations, the hunt starts at Dare Designs, and you can find a list of all hunt participants here.
